Stack & component testing

Customized testing technology for use on full and short-stack systems.

The media supply provided for operating a stack on the test bed includes air and hydrogen, while an electronic load (sink) is provided as the consumer. The control variable can be the stack voltage, in addition to power and current. The parameters for hydrogen, air and the coolant required for operation are controlled in a precise yet highly dynamic manner.


Fuel cell system testing

KS test beds for fuel cell systems allow comprehensive handling of the required testing tasks. System features such as KS DPC (Dynamic Pressure Control) allow independent and highly accurate pressure control of process supply and extract air. Fuel cells and complete fuel cell-driven vehicles can be put through their paces in the high-performance temperature chamber (optional). Extensive safety technology ensures safe system operation at all times. The typical power ranges are between 200 and 600 kW. Higher total power ranges of >1 MW can also be realized.

Infrastructure and environmental simulation

We plan and implement the supply of test centres, test fields and individual test benches with energy (electricity, fuel, gas, etc.), process cooling in the form of cooling/cold water, compressed air, process water (demineralised water) and steam for humidity control, individually tailored to your requirements. Our infrastructure expertise also includes the planning and implementation of ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC systems), exhaust gas disposal, safety technology (fire protection systems) and the complete automation of all these systems. We also offer comprehensive solutions for climate chambers for the operation of fuel cells under realistic and precisely reproducible conditions (temperature, pressure, humidity). 


Elektrolyse-Stack Testing

Test systems for electrolysis stacks

Safe and flexible testing of electrolysis stacks under precisely reproducible operating and environmental conditions.

To operate a full electrolysis stack on the test bed, the highly pure water flows over the anode and an electrical current is introduced to produce hydrogen and oxygen. The parameters for demineralized water, electrical power and anode/cathode pressure required for operation are controlled in a precise yet highly dynamic manner. The control concept used for this is configurable. Use of the most modern safety technology enables unmanned 24/7 operation. The basis for this is provided by the development of a comprehensive safety concept, consisting of aspects such as the observation of the specimen and the test procedure, ex-zone classification, and design of the safety equipment from a safety technology perspective along with the development of precautionary measures for 
the installation site.
