KS-H2GEN

Turnkey PEM-Electrolyzers

Harnessing green hydrogen offers enormous potential for transforming various sectors to pave the way for a sustainable and carbon-neutral future.

Green hydrogen is produced using renewable energy sources such as wind and solar energy, so it produces no emissions.

In industry, green hydrogen can replace fossil fuels in processes such as steel and chemical production to significantly reduce CO2 emissions. In the transport sector, green hydrogen is a clean solu-tion as a fuel for fuel cell vehicles and modern com-bustion engines. It can also be used for long-term energy storage to compensate for seasonal variations in renewable energy generation and to improve the stability of the power grid. With its versatility and potential for use in various industries, green hydro-gen is a key element in decarbonizing the economy – so producing it using electrolysis has a vital role to play in the energy transformation.
KS Engineers offers customized solutions with va-rious capacity levels and has the flexibility needed to cater to customer needs. Depending on the local conditions, the design can be carried out in modular construction units or on-site, in a hall infrastructure provided by the customer.

Benefits:

  • high dynamics and load change rate
  • maximum grid stability
  • top-quality H2
  • High H2 Discharge pressure

Key Features

HIGH H2 DISCHARGE PRESSURE
Currently up to 34 bar, in future up to 40 bar – with lower subsequent compressor capacity required, or can be fed into the pipeline network without any further compression.

HIGHLY DYNAMIC
The plant has a high load change rate in operation, making it suitable for grid-stabilizing operation in ac-cordance with the requirements for modern renewable power grids (PV, wind, tidal, etc.). Additional yield from provision of output power from KS-H2GEN plant for grid-stabilizing operation.

USE OF O2
For the steel industry or chemical industrial processes.

WASTE HEAT UTILIZATION
For example, by feeding into district heating networks.

FLEXIBLE CONTROL
Automation with KS-TORNADO LIGHT, our PC-sup-ported plant measurement and automation system to provide graphical user guidance, safety monitoring and measurement data capture. KS-TORNADO LIGHT al-lows the plant to be accessed and controlled remotely, e.g. for monitoring current operating states.

RELIABILITY
At the heart of the system, the electrolysis stack, we rely on the quality of our technology partner Bosch. We use four stacks operated in parallel, each with 1.25 MW. In combination with high-quality and durable industrial components, we guarantee a high degree of system reliability.

Electrolysis – System Overview

Modular design in process skid modules

KS-H2GEN 5 MW modular system

The modular design of the KS-H2GEN production plant with skid modules means we can manufacture, commission and test the entire plant at our site. After testing, the modules are assembled, connected and commissioned on-site in industrial containers or at the customer’s premises in the appropriate producti-on halls (factories).

Benefits:

  • Scalable thanks to modular design, up to large capacities
  • In-house production with factory acceptance test (FAT)
  • Installation in modular construction units or assembly on-site in customer production halls
  • Quick manufacturing and delivery times
  • Simple transportation and relocation of plants
  • Lower maintenance costs and quick replacement thanks to large number of shared components and modules
  • High system reliability and availability

BoS (Balance of Stack)

consisting of:

  • Stacks
  • DC source (rectifier)
  • Anode-Skid
  • Cathode-Skid
  • Electrical, control and safety engineering
  • Automation with KS-Tornado Light

BoP (Balance of Plant)

enhanced with:

  • Transformer
  • Water treatment skid
  • Cooling
  • H2 cleaning skid and H2 compressing skid

Infrastructure

consisting of:

  • Modular construction units
  • Room cooling
  • Ex-ventilation exhaust air
